the nations major meat pack ers says it plans to stop all slaughtering operations at the Chi cago Stockyards The company said Monday it was going to discontinue meal and food operations at the stockyards and will move its general offices from the yards to the downtown district President James D Cooney said the company was starting a sub stantial expansion and moderniza tion of its plants in Cedar Rapids Iowa Albert Lea and No date was announced for the companys withdrawal from the stockyards The change will not affect the companys other plants at Los An geles Denver Memphis Okla homa
