Also Wants Respect From the GlobtCazellei EDITORIAL RESEARCH BUBEATJ WASHINGTON This is the the socalled TV image committee of the National As sociation of Broadcasters re ports to the associations board on a proposal to improve public relations for the wireless indus try Broadcasters are not satisfied merely to be prosperous They want to be respected if not Theyare sensitive to the mounting crescendo of criticism from the very public which keeps its dial set to TV several hours a day That TV is doing all right fi nancially is indicated by the fact that finding desirable time for sponsored programs is a principal problem for CBS and to a lesser degree to the two other networks BUT FOR ALL the rosy pres ent and future the broadcasters have been increasingly dis turbed by public protest news paper criticism and congres sional investigation of their pro gramming standards Robert W Sarnoff chairman of the board of National Broadcasting Co put it succinctly March 16 in the keynote speech of the Chicago convention of the National Asso ciation of Broadcasters On the one hand there is wide support for television and radio which suppry what most of the people want most of the time on the other hand there is persistent criticism of these media because they serve ma jority tastes and interests As a result a climate is be ing created for more govern CONDITION DESCRIBED EXCELLENT Cancer Found in Arthur Godfreys Left Lung Surgeon Team Removes It NEW YORK UPI Sur found cancer in Arthur Godfreys Uft lung Thursday and removed the section of the lung affected by it Two hours after the 55year old TV entertainer underwent an exploratory operation at ColumbiaPresbyterian Medi cal Center one of his surgeons announced The lesion in Mr God freys left lung has been iden tified as being a malignant tumor The section of the lung containing the tumor is being removed H i s condition is excel The o I d redhead was wheeled into the operating room at At a m the three lowers record of never having a law enacted over his veto The House roll call vote was 280146 in favor of overriding but this was four votes shorl of the required twothirds The Senate on Tuesday voted in the Iowa Falls Community School District was passed here Wednesday 40058 The issue was approved in al 11 districts involved The schoo population will be increased jus slightly in fhis reorganization as almost all the area involved was already being served by the Iowa Falls school The sections within the dis trict will be from 54 to 108 No other towns are includ override the veto 6027 two votes more than the minimum required It takes a twothirds vote of both the House and Senate to override a veto FOUR DEMOCRATS joined 142 Republicans to sustain the President Six Republicans
