Sweden fears soviet control Over Economy swedes concerned Over huge credit to russians. By Eddy Gilmore Stockholm an american visitor to Sweden who knows anything about Russia is something like the arrival in Al most any american City of a Man who knows where you might get a new Are at once a very interesting person. The swedes of course Are not so much interested in automobiles at this particular moment in his tory As they Are in their great neighbor who occupies one sixth of the Earth s surface. And the question is not that of buying rus Sian but whether Russia is about to buy Sweden or at least a Large chunk of her Economy. Little of War. However far fewer people Here seem to expect a new War than in the United states. I have found no one who believes the world is go ing to have another War soon. The swedes Are somewhat curious As to How this impression could have gained a foothold in America. Their capital is More crowded than Washington new York or London. I know a visiting Ambas Sador who has been occupying a room without Bath with one of his attaches. I know a wealthy Cana Dian who is bedded Down in a sin Gle room with his wife and two grown children. I know others who Are sleeping in lobbies. Stockholm has escaped the after War moral and spending Jit Ter bugging of the United states and England. You Don t see people tossing Money about As you do in new York. They look to u. S. Friendship for the United states is most apparent. The people dance to american tunes and i be found one Coffee House Here whose sole attraction seems to be the hour in and hour out constant playing of the latest american jazz and swing tunes. The Wallace Truman Byrnes affair has created Lively if amused interest. The swedes look upon it As one of the choicest bits of governmental comedy since some of the antics of former King zog of Albania.
