The deposed German government, headed by President
Ebert, has forced Dr. Walgang Von Kapp, chancellor of the
counter-revolutionary administration to offer his resigna
tion, according to unofficial dispatches today.
The defiance of the Ebert cabinet, issued from its pro
visional capital in Stuttgart, closed the door to any chance of
a compromise agreement and declared Kapp must resign un
conditionally.
Latest advices this afternoon indicated Kapp had tend
ered his resignation, apparently with the idea that this ac
tion would open the way for negotiations between his follow
ers and the Ebert government.
At the same time it was said Kapp's military leaders have
decided to continue their opposition, regardless of his pro
posed resignation, and would fight to the end.
Reports were received that bloody fighting was still under
way in Berlin and its environs.
A Berlin dispatch quoted the Hanover Tageblatt as stating
that Field Marshal Von Hindenburg has declared he had no
intention nor desire to participate in the new government.
