buried in a two paragraph mention in Satur days Times It is published in full as a paid ad so Madison people may have the facts EditM CAPITAL TIMES Dear Mr Editor Yesterdays of the Capital Times included in ex tensive discussion of the of Menona Cauitwiy in your usual objective way We could net readily determine what the purpose of the article wai but we are grateful that it contained such an excellent map of the project We assume that you be cause of some unspecified benefit to property owners at both ends The Hyland Hall property is adjacent to Olin Ave and certainly close to the south end of trie improved route but this a mixed blessing because the heavy traffic will create great problems of entrance and exit The Reynolds property ii almost a mile from the north end of the Causeway and it is doubtful if its present or future value would be greatly affected by its completion The Hyland Halt property was originally purchased as a site for our operations It was voluntarily annexed to the city shortly after purchase and without any representations made to induce Unfortunately the development of the South Belllrne and Olin Ave intersection so affected the prop erty that we were compelled to look elsewhere under consid erable pressure when the disaster of 1958 destroyed our up town building At the present time the plot is rented tor per month It would be unfcrtunrae if some benefit to our 65 acre area would prevent your supporting this very necessary im provement since it might alio well benefit 60000 acres or more I have talked the problem over with my associates and as our contribution to removing at least one of your two very statesmanlike objections we offer the following solution We will immediately sell Ihe property to the Capital Times at a price to be established by competent appraisers You can then hold it for the expected increase in value sell it and apply the profit to any charity of your choosing I have made this suggestion to Mayor Reynolds with re spect to tne Reynolds property and he states that they are pre pareJ to apply the same solution This should remove the sec ond of these statesmanlike abjections These actions should eliminate al valid objections to the Causeway project and stimulate your vigorous support in a con structive way Madison needt this express route desperately and we are happy to assure its realization Very
