Injured in the same Accident was Kent Turpin 47, of Bosque farms Borland s father in Law. The Accident occurred about 6 30 ., sunday near the Santa be overpass on nm-6, where the Kaiser jeep Ster Borland was driving failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle Slid sideways overturned on the Roadway and went Down a Steep embankment. Borland was thrown from the vehicle which then apparently rolled Over him. Turpin received head lacerations and broken ribs. Both men were taken to presbyterian Hospital by Valley ambulance. Borland died about seven hours after the Accident. State policeman Jim Coslin was assisted by stale policeman Andy Gallegos in the investigation. Borland who would have been 20 this month attended los Lunas High school and new Mexico state University. He formerly lived in Bosque farms. He is survived by his wife Teresa a son Christopher John of Albuquerque his parents or. And mrs. Harry c. Borland of Bosque farms three Sisters mrs. Nadeen Begel of Barstow calif., mrs. Nancy Rodgers of los Lunas and miss Noreen Borland of Bosque f arms and his grandmother mrs Gertrude Craft also of Bosque i arms. Borland was a member of the presbyterian Church. Rev. Jay Confair officiated at the services. Interment was in Sunset memorial Park. Pallbearers were Terry Hannigan Robert Hedricks Mark dodgers Bruce Edwards. Joe Medieros and James Benge. Investigation is continuing on a two vehicle Accident which occurred sunday on nm-47 at the los Lunas Bridge. A 1973 Ford pick up. Driven by Craig Milton Strandberg of Bosque farms and a 1968 Chevrolet pick up driven by Jose a. Lope 50, of los Lunas collided on the Bridge. Both Strandburg and mrs Lope who was Riding with her husband complained of injuries. Gilbert Montoya 18, of los Lunas was a passenger in the Strandberg truck. Others Riding with Lope were Cora Lope and Michael Lopez. State policeman Jim Coslin said both vehicles received Over $100 in plan set for review a special meeting of the los Lunas Village Council and the steering committee which has been updating the Village s comprehensive plan will be held at 7 30 Tonight thursday to review the proposed plan before it is presented for final adoption. For the past several months task forces and the steering committee have held separate meetings to review the los Lunas zoning ordinance Street water and sewer services and recreation plans and recommend changes. The project has been coordinated by a stall from the Middle Rio Grande Council of governments which was commissioned by the Village. One of the major changes in the zoning ordinance expected to come out of the project is the provision for trailers within the Village limits. A one which would allow trailers is expected to be added. After tonight s meeting the steering committee will spend some time in reviewing the final proposal before it is presented to the Council for adoption. They asked the group to provide a formal request detailing the materials needed and said they would even Call a special Board meeting to act on it. Orla Strandberg said they just wanted a place for the High school team to play their games and a place for potential players to practice in the summer so they could improve their skills.
