At mondays meeting the Valencia county commission hired Manaton and associates civil engineers to draw up the plan which would extend from Isleta to Belen and authorized the firm to make application for Federal and state funds. The move is subject to school budget hearing Friday Harry w gualter chief of school finance will head the committee of state education department officials who will review the los Lunas consolidated schools 1973-74 budget at a Public hearing at 9 30 a.m., Friday at the school administration building. The More than s3 million budget Calls for raises totalling 4.2 per cent for administrators 5.5 for teachers and seven per cent for no certified personnel. Projected expenditures totalling $2,535,171, do not include vocational program enrichment special education or Johnson of Malley programs. Commissioners said they were unaware of any pending special Revenue sharing funds but they would look into it. Chacon asked that if such funds were to be available that the fire station be Given priority. Sanchez pointed out that the commissioners had set priorities a roads and Law enforcement a but that if additional funds were forthcoming the fire districts would be considered As one of the top priorities. He added that the Western part of the county also would be included in the consideration. Chacon said the firefighters association had contacted the Western fire districts asking them to join the organization or to establish a Western Branch but he had had no reply. Chacon also asked about a plan for civil defense. Sanchez said a plan has been submitted since it was necessary in order to obtain funds but that the plan might not be the one used after a civil defense director is hired. He said whether or not Federal funds Are received a civil defense director will be hired. Commissioners approved the bid of Luna and sons by Fred Luna for $3,989 for repairs to the courthouse roof is subject to approval of a written contract.
