Both grass and legume Hay is eligible for entry in the show Hay category and Blue red and w bite ribbons w ill be awarded Rome said. Exhibit Hay entries Are Noil competitive and Are for display and analysis purposes Only. This year s Hay show is a cooperative Effort on the part of a number of Valencia county residents with assistance coming from cooperative Extension stalls in Bernalillo Socorro and Sandoval counties and the Northern and Southern Pueblos agencies. This is the second consecutive year for the statewide show sponsored by the Umsu cooperative Extension service. A noon barbeque will be prepared at the Fairgrounds by the Belen Jaycees. A special cookie recipe containing Alfalfa will be prepared and the dessert will be available to help lop the mid Day meal. The Oatmeal Alfalfa cookie recipe was developed by Barbara w Ard. The recipe was taste tested As Best by miss Ward s continued on Page a one Man drowns another missing the Valencia county sheriff s department is seeking identification of a Man found floating in an irrigation ditch tuesday and is searching for an Adelino Man who has been missing since monday sheriff adds detective division Valencia county sheriff Emiliano Castillo or. Is setting up a detective division in his department and has hired Juan Baldonado As former assistant police chief at Belen As an investigator. Wayne Thigpen will begin work in the new division aug i in the Grants area. Castillo noted the new additions will bring his staff to to men with a total of 71 years experience. The body of the unidentified Man was discovered in a ditch w est of the red carpet tuesday afternoon by Modesto Velasquez an employee of the Bureau of reclamation. The Man had apparently drowned and had been in the ditch from four to seven Days according to Coroner r. E. Brubaker. The dead Man was described As bet Ween 40-50 y ears old and about five feet eight inches tall. He was wearing Brown pants. Detective Juan Baldonado and Deputy Valentin Torre investigated. The body was taken to the Romero funeral Home. Baldonado said if anyone knows of someone missing who resembles the description of the dead Man he should Call the sheriffs office or the District attorneys office. Also under investigation is a break in at the new shop at the los Lunas High school where Between $300-5500 Worth of tools were taken. Principal flow Ell Payton reported the theft. He said it appeared the culprits had parked a car off the freeway near the High school and had carried the tools to the car after breaking into the school. He said a few tools and footprints were found Between the school and the freeway.
