London Daily Post And General Advertiser (Newspaper) - September 1, 1743, London, Middlesex RRIVED the Carolina, Mefoard, from Carolina. ReMun:iii the Downs his Majefty*s Ship Shrewsbury. The three Ships -for Holland are now under fail. Wind S.E. , Grave/end, Aug. 30. Pafs'd by Andrew and Elizabeth, Nic-fldn, from Norway ; and Newport, Tidmarfb, from Cape Fare. Arrived at feveral Ports. The St. Quintin, Barker, from Genoa, is arrived at Leghorn. The Saliibtny, Hancock ; and Happy Grieve, Chapman, from London, at LiiBon. The Thomas, Reynolds, from Pool, at ditto. ThePrince Charles, Mullins; Merlin, Herruej and the Tyger, Power, from Cork, at ditto. L O N D O N. Yefterday arrived the Mail from France. They write from Turin, that the King of Sardinia has distributed Part of his Troops in the Ports adjacent to Sa. luces, and made his Cavalry encamp in the Plain near that Town; and that hisMajefty had likewife fent fevefal Detachments of Infantry towards Caftel Delfino, which is the Place where the Spaniards may with moft Eafe penetrate into Italy. They add, that the Garrifons of the Citadels of Milan, Pizzighitona, Schieradada, and feveral other Towns in the Dntchy of Milan, have been reinforced, and all other proper Precautions taken to fecare that Dutchy from an Invafion from the Spaniards. But, According to Letters from Chamberry, all thefe Precautions are neediefs, the Spaniards being in full March thro' the Territory of Briancon, in order to force the Paffage of the Alps on that Side. We hear from Drefden, that all the Officers and Soldiers in the Saxon Troops, that are abfent upon Furlows, have received Orders {to repair forthwith to their Colours, and the Colonels are forbid to grant any more Furlows. A Report has lately prevailed, that the Marquis d'He-rouville, Commandant of Egra, was dead ; but the laft Advices from Ratiflnn flatly contradicts this Report; for Count Kollowrath, who commands the Blockade of Egra, having fent an Officer into the Town, this Officer Ipoke to the French Commandant in Ferfon, and acquainted him with the Queen of Hungary's ultimate Refblution ; which is, that the Garrifon of Egra might march out freely, provided that the Town of Ingolftadt was evacuated at the fame time, andjthjt jx>th Garrifons engaged not to ferye a-gainfl her Majefty foTa TweTve^olftn to come. *~*=~;-"~ The Accommodation between theGcnoefe and the Corfi-cans/ feems not likely to be fo foon terminated, as was lately expeflted. Twelve Corfican Deputies did gc to Bail Fa, in order to treat with the Republick's Commiflary-General, and put the finishing Hand to this Affair : But after a few. Conferences, the Deputies made new Demands,, -or-at lead made feveral Reftriftions and Amendments to the Articles already agreed upon ; fo that the Genoefe Commiffary has been forced, for Want of fufficient Inflructions, to break off the Conferences, until the Return of an Exprefs which he difpatched to Genoa. The Senate have met feveral Times on this Occafion, and the 20th of laft Month, N.S. the Exprefs was fent back to Bailia ; but their Resolutions are not yet known. We have a Confirmation from Bologna, that a large Body of Auftrians are- marching to the frontiers of Tuf-cany, and that Part of the Spanifh Army is arrived at Pe-faro from Rimini. We hear from Paris, that the Count d'Eu, one of the Princes of the Blood, is arrived there from the Army on the Rhine ; but upon what Account, they don't tell us : They add, that all the new raifed Militia will be forthwith incorporated into the old Corps. Letters from' Landau fay, that MarQial Noailles has removed his Head-Quarters from that Town to Ofreinbach, that he may be more at Hand to obferve the Motions of the Army of the Allies. Advices from Strafbourg fay, that Marfhal Coigny arrived in that Neighbourhood the 29th of laft Months N.S. and has fince taken the Command of the Army which was under the Count de Saxe : This Army was reinforced but a few Days before with rj Batallions brought from the Inner-Provinces by the Duke de Birori. The Count de Saxe is gone to ferve nnder Marfhal Noailles. From Toulon they write, that 10 French and eight Spanifh Men of War have failed from that Harbour, and that having met with fome Englifh Men of War, nothing paf-Jed between them but reciprocal Salutes.-Apocryphal. We hear from Bourdeaux, that feveral Galleons are arrived off of Bayonne, and have landed three Millions of Piafters.-This probably, is only the fingle Ship lately mentioned. Yefterday it was reported, that a Ship called the Lifbon Packet, Latham, from Ireland, for Lifbon, is taken by the Spaniards, and carried into Ferrol; but the-Truth of the Account is much doubted. We hear th have been atS therefore hourl Itis.alfo faid nnder Convoy On the-2 frOmPIym her Convoy. The fame D: that Port for dezvous. It is afnrm&wjll be made Biffiop of Raphoe. i=.
