On Saturday laft > Cock, Efq; of Camberwell, was married at St. Paul's, to Mifs Freer of Lewiuam ; a Lady of Beauty, Merit, and a Fortune of 70001. Yefterday Morning died Mr. Timms, one of the Gentlemen of Weftminfter-Abby, and Minor-Canon of St. Paul's Cathedral. The Rev. Mr. Evans fucceeds the above Gentleman in the Choir of Weftminfler-Abby, and Mr. Baily in that ofSt.Paul*i. By Letters from Barbadoes we have an Account, that Capt. Finny, Commander; of the Frlendfhip, died at that Iflandonthe 2iftofAuguft. He was a Perfon of good Character, and much cfteem'd by his Owners, and all chat knew him. Yefterday was buried in a handfome manner, at the Quakers. Burial Ground in Whitechapel, Mr. Jonathan Scarth, formerly a very eminent Virginia Merchant.- There is a Story told of this Perfon ; that many Yean ago he had 10 Tickets in one of the State Lotteries, juft before the drawing of which, a Correfpondent of his came from Holland about Bufinefs, and expreftinga Defire to have a Ticket to try his Fortune, Mr. Scarth threw them all before him, and bid him take That he lik'd ; which prov'd a Lucky one, for it came up 10,0001. On Sunday died ia Hatton-Garden Mrs. Oldecup, in the 39th Year of her Age, Wife of - Oldecup, Efq; a Gentlewoman much eHeem'd by her Acquaintance. - Yefterday Morning a Fine happened at Mr. Night's in Little DifUfF-Iane near St. Paul's, which burnt the upper Part Of the Houfe, occafipa'dbya Bricklayer, who isfup-pofed to be out of his Senfes, fetting fire to the Garret where he lodg'd. We hear, that at the Rummer Tavern, Charing Crofv. there has been yaft Numbers to fee the Famous Jfrieait, moftly Phyficians and Surgeons, all greatly approving of the furprizing AI eration in this wonderful Phauiomcnon fince the Year 1740; and that this is a quite different Sub-jeft from any treated of by Doftor Parfons', in his Treatift of Hermaphrodites, will plainly appear to any Surgeon, . upon his Examination of it.- . As the Company are at prefent but thin in that Part of the Town, they are now moved oppofite to the Bell, a little within the Old BaiJy from Ludgate-hill, the firft Front .Floor. . Tuefday laft being the Anniver&ry of his Majefty's Coronation, the fame was obferved in this City with theufual Demonftrationsof Joy. Wednefday next is appointed for a General Review of the Regiment quartered here, commanded by Lieutenant General Earrel. It will be made on Durdham-Down, ia the Prefence of Lord Tyrawley. Same Day died at his Houfe in Mary-ftreet, -- Meredith, Efq; a Gentleman of a very good Character. Great Numbers of People refort here to fee the Pear-Tree, which is allowed to ba a great Curiofity ia this Part of the World.
