Letters from Prince Lobkowitz's Quarters at Forli, dated the 24th Oct. N.S. advife, that he arrived there that very Afternoon with the main Body of his. Army ; That 1200 Croats and Hufiars, who had been fent out the Day before, having advanced as far as Savignano, fell upon a Body of 1400 Spanifh Horfeand Foot, who. guarded the Head of a Bridge on the River Ronco ; that after a fhort Refif-tance the AuQrians broke them, and purfuing two Leagues .togethercut in Pieces about 700 of them.' ' Great Overtures are on the Tapis for a Peace, and we ' may look upon it to be better than half concluded. They write from Madrid, that the King has received a Letter from the Governor of Vigo, importing, that two Engliftj Men of War, with two Bomb-Ketches and a Fire-fhip appeared before that Port in the Beginning of la ft Month, and, after fpending the whole Day in Preparations for an Attack, began next Morning to cannonade and bombard the Town as well as the Forts that defend the Entrance of the Harbour; that he (the Governor} made a very briik Fire opon them with his Artillery, which obliged them to flieer off towards Evening, after doing little or no Damage to the Place. Yeflerday Advice came, that a Ship from Virginia, with 300 Hogfheads of Tobacco, is aflsore near Carrickfergus, and had 12 Foot Water in her Hold. Alfo, that the Princefs Augufta, Gwynn, from Briftol, for Cork and Jamaica, is afhore on the Saltrees, between Waterford and Wexford, and -'tis fear'd is beat to Pieces. The fame Day there was Advice, that the Wickham, Warry, from Bofton, is taken by the Spaniards, and carried into Malaga. We hear, that the two Spanifli Privateers who fcour'd the Coaft of Africa fome Months ago, were arrived at the Havannah ; but that of 600 Slaves which they carried off the Coaft, they buried 350 in the Paffage. We are affured that the Samuel, Lynn, a Swedilh Ship, bound from Lifbon to Genoa, having been ftopt and examined at Sea by an Englim Man of War/ there .were found onboard her 200,000 Pieces of Eight belonging to the Spaniards, oh which lhewas carried into Gibraltar. Yefterday there was Advice that the Queen of Hungary, Blackburn, one of the Jamaica Fleet, that was in/the dreadful Hurricane, is arrived in York River, Virginia. Yefterday there was a Confirmation of the taking of the Forward, Sergeant, from Virginia, as mentioned in this Paper of Thurfday laft. The Swift, Mercer, arrived at Briftol from Cork, brings Advice,, that feveral Ships have been lately loft on the Coaft: of Ireland ; one of which was from Virginia, and all the Crew drown'd. And that there are 76 Hogftieads of Tobacco drove on Shore, feveral Barrels of Beef, and two dead Women. We hear, that Thomas Parry, Efq; of Lambeth, is appointed Receiver-General of the Rents'and Income of the Archbiflioprick of Canterbury. Laft Saturday died of the Small-Pox, at his Mother's in Areher-ftreet, Weftminfter, . ... Pitt, Efq; a young Gentleman of confiderable Fortune, and greatly efteem'd by all that had the Pleafure of bis Acquaintance. On Sunday Morning died, at his Houfe in Great Or-mond-ftreet, Mr. Savage, an Attorney of great Practice. On Saturday laft the Right Hon. the Lord Mark Ker, arrived at his Houfe in Dover-ftreet, from the Army. On Saturday Night laft died,, after a very fhort Illnefs, Mrs. Mary Cooke, Sifter to Mr. Cooke, Matter of the Fleece Tavern in Cornhill, a Maiden Gentlewoman, who was much efteem'd by all that knew her. On Saturday Night laft fome Rogues found means to get into the Shop of Meff. Wells and Hartley, Mercers, in Ludgate-ftreet, and -carried off Goods to a confiderable Value; they alfo made an Attempt on Sunday Night, to carry off more, but were prevented. Yefterday John Harvey was committed to New Prifon, by Col. De Veil, upon a ftrong Sufpicion of having felo-nioufly taken a great Number of Brewers Cafks; feveral of which he fold to one Peter D'Soleil, a-French Cooper near Soho-Square, where feveral are now to be feen. IRELAND. Dublin, 08. 29. We hear from Dundalk, that Ships trading there having greatly encreafed, but meeting with Obftructidn and Delay by the Crookednefs of the Channel, going up and down the fame ; and being reprefented to the Right Hon. the Lord Vifc. Limerick, his Lordftup, out of tender Regard to the Profperity of his Tenants, and a pub-lick Difpofition to promote the Imereft of his Country, was pleafed to order above 500 Men to Cut a new Channel, and by working at the fame for fome Time raft, have happily fucceeded therein, fo that Ships of confiderable Burthen now have free Accefs directly to the Key, and out of Port. This Week was feized by James Bromlo, Geo. Evans, William Beotley, and Thomas Evans, Watermen at Ringf-end, in a fmall Boat, under the Yacht's Counter, a confide, rable Quantity of Gold and Silver Lace in a Box, and a confiderable Quantity of fine Silk, &c. of great Value. Laft Week died at his Seat at Dromore in the County of Clare, Charles M'Donnel, Efq; one of the Burgeffes of Ennis. He was a Gentleman of an exceeding good Character, and his Death is greatly lamented. By a private Letter from Birr, we hear, that there is a Canal cut half a Mile beyond Parfon's-Town, which takes a Serpentine Courfe to faid Town, and then farrounds it. It is juft perfected at the Expence of feveral thoufand Gentlemen, and is a great Embellishment to the Town. And That Richard Newftead of Ballyloughnane, near Parfon's-Town, Efq; was lately married to Mrs. Cornwall, a Widow Lady, of fine Accomplishments, and a large Jointure. Upon which Occafion there were great Rejoicings at that Place. We hear that the Right Hon. the Earl of Londonderry is to be introduced to the Houfe of Peers this Day. And That the Right Hon. the Lord Vifc. Mayo, and the Right Hon. the Lord Vifc. Allen will deliver their Writs, and alfo take their Seats in Parliament. Monday laft his Majefty's Dublin Yatch, Capt. Weller, from Chetter, was ( by the Badnefs of the Weather ) put into Skerrie?, where fhe landed the Hon. Col. Bowles, Dr. Henry Clarke, Capt. Folliot, Counfellor Malone, and feveral other Perfons of Diftioction. Wednefday laft died at her Houfe in York-ftreet, Mrs. Glover, Sifter to the late Lord Lanefborough, a Widow Lady, whofe Merits makes her Death defervedly regretted.
