Yefterday being the Annivcrfary of the Birth of King William III. of Glorious Memory, the fame was ufher'd in with Ringing of Bells ; at Noon there was a fpleridid Court at St. James's, and the Evening concluded with Bonfires, Illuminations, and all other Demonftrations of Joy. And this Day being the Anniverfary of the Gunpowder Plot, the Right Hon. the Lord-Mayor, Aldermen, and Sheriffs, will go in State to St. Paul's Cathedral, and there hear a Sermon; after which they will return to Dinner to Grocers-Hall. Yefterday there was a Report, (we believe without Foundation) that the Argyle Man of War, having been order'd to cruize fome Time, off the Canary-Iflands, there met with the St. Antonio Man of War, fo often talk'd of, and took her after feven Hours Engagement. Yefterday came Advice, that the Martha, Browfe, from Newfoundland to Portugal, was taken by a Spanifh Privateer, after an Engagement of two Hours, wherein 14 Spaniards were kill'd. But'fhe was afterwards re-taken by an Englifh Man of War, and carried into Oporto. His Majefty's Ship the Anglefea, Capt. Brett ; and the Fly Sloop of War, Capt. Williams, are both arrived at 'Spithead, from Oporto ; but there are not any Merchant Ships come under their Convoy. On Wednefday Night laft' died, at her Houfe in Air-ftreet, Piccadilly, aged 74, Mrs. Jackfon,. Widow of Mr. Jackfon, formerly a Brewer in the fame Street. She has left a very plentiful Fortune amongft her Relations. On Thurfday Night laft One Mr. Condron was attack'd in the Haymarket by two Footpads, who demanded his Money ; but Mr. Condron immediately crying out to fome Chairmen he faw at a Diftance, the Rogues thought proper to defift, and made off through St. James's Market. Oa Wednesday Night the Shop of Mrs. Horfeman, a Milliner in Conduit-ftreet, was broke open and robb'd of Goods to a considerable Value. And On Thurfday' Night the Shop of Mr. Cole, a Linnen-. Admiralty-Office, Nov. 3, 1743. -y HE Leave of Abfence given to the Petty" *~ Officers and Fc emaJi-Men, late belonging to his Majefty's Ship the Panther, expiring on the yth Infant, and the Galloper fender being appointed to lay over-againft Iron-Gate, to receive and gurry them to his Majeffs Ship the Plymouth, at Plymouth, ro which they are turned over ; it is the Dirtclion of the Lords Commifponers of the Admiralty, that the faid Men do at the Expiration of their Leave, immediately repair on board the faid fender, in order to thtir proceeding to their Ship the Plymouth accordingly ; on board which Ship, they will be paid the Remainder of their Wages for the Panther, and two Months Advance before he goes to Sea : But, if any of the faid Men fail, to do f, they will not only lofe the aforefaid Payments, but DireSions will be given for their being apprehended and tried at a Court Martial as Deferters.
