On Monday laft a Meffenger arrived at the Secretary's >' /Office, with an Account, that his Majefty was to fee out from Hanover as Yefterday. The Right Hon. the Lords of the Admiralty have been i| fleafed to give Notice, that the. Convoy for the Leeward Hands, Barbadoes, and Jamaica, will fail on the ieth of December. - Yefterday General Oglethorpe, and a Deputation from the Merchants to whom his Bills of Exchange drawn for 'fcis Majefty's Service in America, for Defence of his Ma- '.\ Jetty's Dominions againft the late Invafion of Georgia, &c. :were remitted, waited upon the Right Honourable the Lords Commiffioners of his Majefty's Treafory concerning thefaid Bills, and received a-very favourable Anfwer. We have Advice from Poole, that Capt.Bowden, who Is.arrived there in five Weeks from Carolina, informs them that they had a moft dreadful Hurricane in that Province, ;| which had done very great Damage among the fmallCraft, ;bIown down feveral Houfes, and deftroy*d Half of the Crop 'of Rice. Yefterday there was an Account, that the Friend's Goodwill, Doleman, bound from Jamaica to Londcn, was taken the 21 ft of O&ob^r, in Lat. 49. 10. Forty Degrees Weft- ; ward of Uftianr, by a Spanifn Privateer of 2^ Guns and ; 200 Men ; the Captain of the Privateer ordered all the Englifh on board him, except the Mate and a Boy, and put ' nine Spaniards on board the Veffel, with Orders to proceed idireftly to St. Sebaftians ; but the Weather preventing that, the Spanairds ordered the faid Mate te proceed for Amfter-dam, or any Part of Holland; bit fome how or other he wnijlook his Directions, and has brought her into Abroyth, in Wales, where fhe is atprefent. � Yefterday came Advice, that the Providence, Kercher, bound from Newfoundland to Oporto, was taken fome Days ago by the Spaniards; after which Hie was chafd into Viana, and there claim'd by the Englifti Conful. There was alfo an Account, that the Forward, Sergeant, bound c&bm Virginia to London, it taken by a Spanifh Privateer, and carried intO.St. Sebaftians. - And" the Commander of the CarblinaShip, lately taken, writes, that a Snow from Carolina was taken, at the fame Time ; but does not mention her Name. The Jamaica Frigat, Lauderdale, from Jamaica, is armed at Briftol: She came laft from Waterford, and the Commander fays, that a large Ship from Virginia,, fuppos'd for Leverpool; and a Ship laden with- Provifions, were Toft the zjd paft on the Coaft oiUreland. Yefterday died in David*ftreet near Grofvenor-fquare, Harper Gibbons, Efq; a Gentleman poffetfd of a very l^andfome Eftate near Coventry. On TuefdayJaft a.large Seizure of Teas, Brandy, Hand-|Berchief6, &c was made by the Officers belonging to the Cuftom-houfe, at the Houfe of one Predemorc, the Sign �f the Black Uncle in a Court in Cow-Craft, Newcafle, OS. 29. On Monday, laft John Dodds, James Mahon, and John Samuel, were apprehended in this Town upon Sufpicion of Coining ; and being brought before the Mayor, the faid Maben, in order to fave his own Life, turn'd Informer for the King, and difclos'd the whole Affair, and confcfs'd that they had cpin'd, at feveral Times, feveral Guineas and Thirty-fix Shilling Pieces, fome of which they got chang'd, and pafs'd as Money legally coin'd. James Leathead a Schdolmafter, and Thomas Syms, who kept the Queen's Head Aleboufe in the Bigg-Market, and in whofe Houfe the Inftruments for Coining were fix'd, charg'd upon Oath with being con-cern'dm the above Affair, are both abfeonded. A Reward of 20 Guineas each, befides the Allowance by AO. of Parliament on Conviction, is offer'd by the Corporation for apprehending them. IRELAND. Dublin, 03.2$. His Grace the Lord Lieutenant has been pleafed to grant to the Rev. Richard Taylor, Matter of Arts, the Re&ory and Vicarage of Rhinqurrane, and the entire Rectory of Taxax. As alfo, to grant to the Rev. Arthur Echlin, Clerk, the Rectory and Vicarage of Little Ifland, in the County of Cork (vacant by the Promotion of the Rev. Dean Jemmatt Brown, to the Bifhoprick of Killaloe) and Letters Patent are preparing to pafs the Great Seal accordingly. Saturday laft died at her Houfe in Abbey-ftreet, Mrs. Leigh, Wife of Francis Leigh, Efq; Member of Parliament for the County and Town of Drogheda; (he was a Lady of exceeding good Qualities, which makes her Death greatly .lamented; her Remains leaves Town this Day, in order to be interred in Drogheda. Sunday Evening we had a moft violent Storm, which hath done great Damage j fixteen Lighters were drove from the Coal-Key'to Eflex-Bridge, and fome of them greatly (battered. Laft Saturday died Matter Montgomery, youngeft Son of the late Capt.Montgomery, by whofe Death Mr. Lyons (Sou to Capt. Lyons, Deputy Clerk to the Council-Office) gets an Eftate of 13001. a Year. Laft Sunday being the Anniversary of the Irifli Rebellion, his Grace the Duke of Dcvonihire went in the ufual State to- Chrift-Church, where a very excellent Sermon, fuitable to th&Occafion, was preach'd by the Right Rev. Dr. Cox, Bifhop of Offory. The fame Day the Speaker of the Hon. Houfe of Commons, attended by feveral Members pf Parliament, was at St. Andrew's Church, where the Rev.
