The, following Circumftantial Account of the burning of the St. Ifidore, on the Coaft of Corfica, we doubt not will be agreeable to our Readers. February, 1742, from Corfica j they fail'd 'from hence the 15 th Inftant, and three Days after arrived at Aizzo, and warp'd up within three Cables Length of the Spanifh Man of War; the Water being as fmooth as Ice, and every Thing clear for Action, the fpfwich moor'd Head and Stern upon her Quarter, and the Revenge on her Bow, and the Firefhip without thera feoth. The Spanilh Captain-before they came fo' high, having-fent an Officer on. board the Ipfwich, to pay bis Compliments to the Commodore, Capt. Martin would -not iirifetaim-ioxome W Capt. Broderick, arrived from Jamaica, is come into the River. Her Grace the Dutchefs of Buckingham's Funeral will certainly be folemnized To morrow; but her Corpfe is not to lie in State, and no Perfon will be admitted. On Monday lafl died, at his Lodgings in Comhill, Mr. Burbidge, of Long-Dittoh in Surry ; he was formerly an Apothecary in London ; but had acquired a handiome Foitune, and retired from Bufinefs aconfiderable Time. Yefterday Morning died Mr. Thomas Salway, belong;ng to the Theatre-Royal in Covent-Garden. On Saturday Iatt died, at his Houfe in Milford-Lane in the Strand. Mr. Neal, belonging to the Cuftom-houfe ; and on Tuefday hii Wife died. This Day will begiu to be fold the late Lord Oxford's Library of Books, at Sc. Mary-le-bone. Yefterday Morning a Fire happened in the Fruit-Marke near the Fleet-Prifon, tbro* the Carelefnefs of the Watch' man, which had like to have been of very bad Conference, but by immediate Affiftance it was happily extinguished. Laft Week died, at his Houfe in Pbx-Ordnary Court, in Nicholas-lane, Mr. Jofcph Studley, an eminent Attorney at Law, in the higheft Efteem with his Clients, having made it a Rule, in a Cotirfe of 30 Years Practice, to avoid being concerned for Litigious People. We hear his Bufinefs wtfl chiefly fall to Mr. Langmore of Clements-lane, Who lived with him a confiderabie Time, and whom he has left one of his m Executors. Yefterday died at his Houfe in Sermon-Lane near Doctors Commons Mr. Brooks, a Biker of confiderabie Bufi-nefe, and a Man much refpected by his Acquaintance. They write from Oxford, that on Friday laft the two following Perfons were executed there, viz. Milly Gray, for Healing three Horfes out of an inclofcd Ground belong-ingto Mr. Caftle of Oxford; and John Gale, for aflault-ing Mr. Cripps, of Charlbury, on the Highway near Bur-ford, and robbing him of 24s.-Gray was condemned at that Place about 11 Years ago, for dealing a Mare; con-fefs'd the Fact for which he fufrer'd, and died very penitent : But Gale, in the moft fotemn manner, to the laft Moment, declared himfelf innocent of the Fact wherewith he was charged. They alfo write, that William Blaikall, of Watlington, Barber-SurgeoB, was committed to their Goal, for murdering a Female Infant, and throwing it into a Bog-houfe. Laft Week the beft Wheat was fold at Gloucefter at 3 s. 8 d. and Barley at 2 s. 6 d. per Bufhel. This Day the Prifonefs from the feveral Goals will be removed to Newgate, in order to take their Trials at the Seffions at the Old-Baily, which begins on Wednefday next. At the Brandy Warehoufe under the Royal-Exchange Punch-Houfe, are now on Sale, the beft Jamaica Rum at 7 5. 9 d. the beft Coniac Brandy at 8 s. and Batavia Arrack at 14 s. per Gallon ; but if the Arrack is taken from the India-Houfe, or the Brandy or Rum off the Keys, when Landed, there will be an Abatement.-And at the faid Warehoufes are now on Sale a confiderabie Quantity of Brandy and Rum made into Shrub oHDfonges of this Year's Importation, and then in the greatein^reftidn ~And as Perfons may be dtflrous of having Samples of the fame, the above Brandy and Rum (if fold in a lefs Quantity than a Gallon) is 1 s. per Pint, and Arrack is. 9 d. SCOTLAND. Edinburgh, March 31. A few Days ago died at his Country Scat, aged 87 Years, Captain Walter Lockhart, of Kirktoun, a Gentleman of Integrity, who fuffer'd early for his ftedfaft Adherence to Religion; and through the whole of his Life was firmly attached to the Intcreft of Virtue, and the Liberty of his Country. As he was an ufeful Member of Society in all refpects, his Death is juftly regretted. Saturday laft died at Invernefs, aged about 80, Bailie William Frazer of that Townt a Gentlemen of very great Hofpitality and Friendfhip, univerfally and jullly regretted. High.
