had been placed on probation by the state Board of education i still have not received any report we have had no indications and no feedback whatsoever since we were evaluated in Early Davis said Davis said the probation was unexpected because North Miami is the Only elementary school in Miami county that is accredited by the North Central association of schools the state evaluation was based on step test results North Miami scores indicated deficiencies in math and total test Battery scores attendance was also considered in the evaluation we were not deficient As far As a National Davis said the state Board of education based its evaluations on comparisons among Indiana schools schools were grouped into leagues of 50 according to socioeconomic criteria this is the first year for the new evaluation system what it comes Down to is the number of free lunches a school said Douglas Lesley principal of Frontier High school Chalmers Frontier was one of 46 school that received a shortened two year accreditation a full accreditation is for five years we were in a unique position we were placed in an elite league with some of the higher Quality schools in the Lesley said we one time totalled 240 people voted 125 to 11 in favor of ratifying the local agreement the actual membership has dwindled since layoffs began some of the former workers now have other jobs the National agreement covers oxides Law member plants in Logansport Burlington Iowa Allentown and Denver Colo members of local 84 ratified the National contract 127 to 9 the National agreement pertains to wages and benefits such As health and life insurance and retirement All the other plants also ratified their local agreements and the National pact by about the same margins Wilson said we agreed to a wage freeze for the first two years with a 25cent wage increase the third year for All production workers and 50cent wage hike the third year for All maintenance Wilson said there were no cuts in
