Many people when finishing their houses neglect to put the numbers on properly, vrith the result that strangers in search of a particular residence wander up and down the semi-lighted street cursing volubly. This absolute neglect of the law, however, is not as irritating as the practice of painting the name on the outer door and omitting it over the inner door. Until 10 o'clock the greater number of storm doors stand open. The light from the hall chandelier iUnminates the inner transom, but the enter one is a dull blank, on which nothing can be read. You stare at what you know are figures, finding yourself utterly unable to distinguish them, and yon are reduced to the ignominious course of ringing the bell and asking what the ntmiber is, which invariably produces on the face of the servant who appctrs an expression of a conviction not flattering to your sobriety. Good Cliristians there be who put the number on both transoms-may their homos be exalted and their eiamples imitated!-New York Telegram._ To aootbe disturbed feeiiogs brought on by a cold, ami to core oooghs, oroup aod boarseneu, take Dr. Buli's Cough Syrup. The pride ws take in our Cloak Department this season is justly merited, and is being proven to our customers every day when they visit our store andexamine ourstock.whichthis season consists of a larger assortment of fine garments than has ever been shown by any house in this city. Many of these garments are in exclusive styles that are controlled by us only, although some of our worthy competitors make every effort to copy some of our most desirable styles, and try to procure them tor some of our customers after we have positively rafused to duplicate them. They are foiled in their attempt. VVe are ever watchful of our customers' interest, and in several cases have we defeated their plans, and protected our customers, although our stock of high class garments is very large and varied. Our assortment of the mediums and cheaper grades is the largest shown in the city, and contains values unheard of before in this or any other market in this part of the country. We have an assortment of Children's Coats in ten or twelve styles, sizes from 4 to 12 years, and of good quality of cloth, at 75 cents per garment. Si.x different styles of Ladies Jackets at $2.00 per garment, that are really worth twice the price. Ten styles of Ladies Newmarkets at $5.00 per garment, that cannot possibly be obtained elsewhere for less than $8.00. We do not quote prices on the above styles as being the only cheap garments we have, but simply state that we can supply all clases of trade with Coats and Wraps, in qualities and styles that are above the average for the money the customers are desirous of spending. Plush Coats Jackets. Plush garments have come in for a good share of our attention this season and we are now prepared to show styles that are entirely different from those of other seasons, both in trimmed and untrimmed garments. We handle only Walkers English Pluslus that give the best satisfaction to the purchasers, and in finish and appearance can hardly be detected from the finest Alaska London dyed Seal Skin. These goods were purchased by us before the enormous advance in price was demanded by the manufacturers, and are being offered at prices that are lower than we could purchase the same garments for to-day. Astrakhan, Clotti and Fur Cape$. Our assortment of Capes is still very complete and comprises all the desirable furs of the season. Space will not permit us to go into detail, but will just mention a few things: Black English Hair Capes - . $ 5 00 Astrakhan Cloth - 6 00 Plush and Astrakhan (furcombination)7 5010900 Astrakhan Fur Capes - 10 00 Belgium Coney Fur - 12 00 Cape Seal - - 15 00 Monkey - -, 22 50 Natural Beaver - - 35 00 Mink - - - 40 00 Black Martin - - 45 00 We also have in stock Muffs to match all these popular styles of Capes. We have added to our already large stock of Fancy Goods, a full assortment of Senora Saxonys and German-town Wools. We are special agents for Hall's Bazar Dress Form and Butterick Patterns, and carry a full line in stock at all times. Low prices, the largest assortment of goods, at all times to select from, and our original way of doing business is taken as a copy by some of our competitors, who imitate our way at all times. This fashion of copying our styles is very flattering to us and keeps us at the head of the dry goods business in the city. EVERETT & 60., BEE HIVE 16 EAST H&IN STREET.
