A spokesman said the kidnap- ping occurred at the home of director Julio Herscheeld Al- mada, and that two men and a woman, armed with sub-ma- chine-guns, were involved. Leftist guerrillas have been active in Mexico recently and some members of a group of nine urban terrorists arrested earlier this month said they had discussed plans to kidnap the U.S. ambassador or top Mexi- can political figures. A police source said later the kidnappers bad called Hirsch- ced Alraada's home and asked for in ransom. The penitentaries service here said today that the profits are going into the Inmates' Wel- fare Fund for the benefit of all at the medium-security prison. The driving range is the latest in a series of projects intro- duced at Drumheller by Warden P. M. J. Jutras and his staff. Community relations between the prisoners and residents of Drumheller have become close and friendly. Kirby sentenced John Ed- ward Campbell, 17, of Cajgary to seven years imprisonment on possession of heroin for traf- ficking purposes. "I have profound sympathy for you as an Mr. Justice Kirby said. "I must stop you from doing to others what someone else did to you." Campbell was arrested June 11 in a city apartment by RCMP as he was preparing lo inject a dose of heroin. RCMP located 84 capsules of the drug, cash, ant, an ap- paratus for the use of heroin. R. E. Armitage, counsel for Campbell, said the youth has "blown" a student loan on heroin. In another case, Mr. Justice Kirby also sentenced Brian Thomas Lemieux, 20, of Cal- gary to seven years on a simi- lar charge. Gospel singer seriously ill MUNICH (AP) American gosple singer Mahalia Jackson is seriously ill with a circula- tion ailment and is being treat- ed at the United States Army hospital here. A spokesman for Miss Jackson said her physi- cian has ordered no visitors for the 59-year-old singer, who was on a concert tour of West Ger- many and Switzerland.
