Phone 328-F879. in Claresholm, Monday, September 20, 1971, Alexander Murdoch MacGregor, aged 94 years, of Granum, Alberta. Born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, he came west to Granum in 3902, where he began contracting business. He later moved to Vancouver Island where he married Jeanetto MacKenzic in 1908 and they returned to Granum, where he farmed and contracted until retiring in 1955. He was a schoo trustee for the District of Chinook and Cutbank which later became part of the Macleod School Division and then the Willow Creek School Division from 1910-1963 at which time the Alex MacGregor Elementary School in Granum was named for him. He received a medal from her Majesty the Queen for his services in the field of education. He was a charter member of the ASTA; a founding member of the Alberta Wheat Pool and served as secretary for the MD of Argyle and sang in the choir at Granum until Iwo years ago. He is survived by two sons, John ol Cliicago and Charles of Calgary; one daughter, Mrs. T. W. (Kathleen) Cairnes of Granum; eight grandchildren; Ihree great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. May Stewart and Miss Catherine MacGregor of Locknow. Ontario; one niece, Mrs. Violet Wilson of Calgary. Predeceased by his wife in 1944 and one son, Kenneth in 1922. The funeral service will be held in the Granum United Church on Thursday, September 23, al p.m., Hev. Oliver Seward officiating.
