Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - September 19, 1972, Lethbridge, Alberta IB THE IETHBRIDGE NERAID Tucldoy, September 19, 1972------------------------------------------ Ethnic dancing highlight of international week AND LIFE from the Ukraine, simplicity and gentle grace from Japan, smoothness and flau- from Spain That's what Sunday's International Folk Dance Festival was ahoul, and enjoyment is what it put out. All groups gathered in friendship to share part of their heritage with tlie spectators in the University Lethbridge gymnasium. An afternoon of pleasure brought to a close inter- national week and marked the official opening the new university campus. The dance festival, a presentation of the Leth- hridge Folk Arts Council, was performed by Ed- monton, Raymond and Lellibridge dancers. Ethnic dancers presented a lively and entertain- ing program, ranging from the fury of an Irish jig to (lie boisterous enthusiasm of a western number and the wooden clap of Dutch shoes. Many of the costumes had been brought from the old country and added flavor to the excitement of the dance. Close to people came to the festival which was an all-Canadian effort.
