The foreign minister spoke at a White House dinner given by 'resident Nixon for a departing Japanese delegation which spent two days in Washington Tying to heal monetary and rade wounds between the two countries. Both sides agreed that the discussions, including a meeting between President Nixon and Fukuda, increased bilateral understandings. But there appeared to be few other results. The Japanese had sought t removal of the 10-per-cent supplementary duty imposed by the US. on many imports, contending it was adversely affecting the Japanese economy. The American reply was that the levy will be lifted only when the United States rights its trade mbalance. The U.S. called for an upward revaluation of the yen, but Japanese delegation turned it down, arguing it could render international cooperation i n ways other than revaluation. The Japanese delegation was eaving today for Toronto for ,alks with Canadian officials on the effects of the import tax on heir two countries. COMPLETE MASSAGE. APPLY 3U 5 SI. 5. In nllernoon.
