There are several good points in favor of; this proposition; ine most important of which is pro- bably the water problem. It is stated on reliable authority that water may be found at tSe astonishingly low depth of eight feet. The big C. P. R. tank at Winnifred, -derives an inex- haustible supply from a depth of but eighteen a remarkable and very satisfactory state of affairs indeed. Tne water is of an excellent quality, and being so ready ot access easily solves what, in a great many instanc- es, is 3. serious difficulty. A valuable farming territory -south of the towns of Grassy Lake. Burdeti and Bow is- cut off by a large 'send in the South'SasltatcheTyan river. This is not the casein the Winnifred district, as ,tKe rivert Sends in the op- posite direction.Vsind" gives the busi- ness men of Winnifred a most profit- able jfanning territory tributary to mat town, .beea'Sse of this fact. It is. a distance of twelve miles in a north- erly-direction, from Winnitred before the river is encountered, and the in- tervening stretch of country is thick- ly settled by" prosperous farmers. The country is equally well settled in oth- er directions, and Winnifred lacks notning to make it a distinctly thriv- ing town. .-.-T At the present time the following business houses -are already estab- See the Position Lots are now Sel- ling at and Upward on Easy Terms No new point in Southern Alberta offers better Investment for small sums than Kipp Townsite It Has 3 Big Chances Finest Farming Country Coal Development Surrounding the Town Railway Centre-Railways run four ways from Kipp now and another line is surveyed east APPLY TO Hugh Hannan or Skeith Tilley I KIPP LETHRRIDaF. lished at Winnifred: General store, naraware, meat market, three lumber; yaras, blacksmith shop, restaurant, livery and three implement dealers. A first class church and school make due provision for the religious and educational life at Winnifred. The merchants are progressive, and have aireay organized a progressive Board of Trade. There are other business openings in Wmnitred, and full in- lormatjon will be furnished 'by the secretary or the Board of Trade. .There is also organized at, Winni- fred an Oddfellows' Lodge, and with- in a short time that fraternity will er- ect a two storey building of brick and stone. The latter building material is found in abundance in and adjacent to Winnifred. It has been examined by experts in Lethbridge and has been j declared a first class building stone j in every particular. A local stone cut i ter has had this stone under the chis- el, and .he states that it is the superior stone already in use in this city. This proposition will stand the clos- est investigation, and there need be j no I'ear of the outcome. I in the vicinity of Winnifred there is also coal in unlimited quantities and likewise gas. The first of these natural resources is capable of great j development and there is no reason j why Winnifred should not assume j equal importance with Taber. Leth- j oriage, Koyal "View, Diamond City and other towns in the "production of The presence of gas affords a promising outlook for manufacturing.! Gas is the cheapest power in the i world to-day, and this valuable com- j mercial commodity is -capable of be- j ing worked with profit. As an instance of the manner in wnich Winnifred town property is mov ing, there may be the recent purchase of an entire block of busi-j ness lots by the Fisher Mercantile company. This'concern has faith in .vv'innifred, an-d is backing that. faith with good, hard cash "before the price of property advances any further, certain banks have also bought, and.- it is stated that in the early spring at least one. and perhaps of1 taese financial institutions will be es- j tablished at Winnifred. Consider the points in favor of nifred as a suitable place for legitj- mate investment: First, a good farn.- ing country; second, an unlimited supply of good water at a minimum depth; third, coal; tourth. gas; fifth, building stone, and last, but not least, the fact that Winnifred's present citi- zens are good, cleancut business men, anxious to see their town go ahead, and backing their faith wita their own This looks like a gilt- edged proposition, and it is at least worthy of investigation.
