Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - October 17, 1973, Lethbridge, Alberta THE LETHBRIDGE HERALD Wednesday, October 17, 1973 House of prayer Auction J J scheduled opened at Nelson SPARWOOD (HNS) Diocese of Nelson members of the Catholic Women's League learned at a recent workshop here that a house of prayer has been opened at Nelson. Sister Veronica of the Sisters of Jesus is in charge of the prayer house, located on the Kootenay Lake. It is a place where anyone can drop in for a period of recollection or prayer. Five to six people can be accom- modated for overnight stays. Sixty CWL members attend- ed the workshop. It was con- vened by Mrs. Mame Hrdlicka, CWL convener for the East Kootenays. Mrs. Sophie Krall, president of the St. Michael's CWL here, welcomed members from Invermere, Golden, Cranbrook, Kimberley and Fernie. Heading the workshop was Mrs, Connie Hatherton of Vancouver, 1st vice-president of the provincial CWL. Members toured the Sparwood-Natal area, then attended a banquet at the Golden Arch Cabaret. at COLEMAN (CNP Bureau) Items of every size and description will be featured at the Coieman BPOE Auction sale to be held in the Elks hall on Oct. 27 to raise funds for various community charities. Local auctioneer Doug Raffan will be in charge of the event scheduled to get un- derway at p.m. Persons having any useful household article they wish to donate to the sale should phone either Pete Meroniuk or Sylvio Deklyn at Coieman. Protesting residents advised to stock fuel Pincher Creek OORP329 place Winning float 5RP 329 placed first in t( town parade SPARWOOD (HNS) Natal residents who have refused to sell their property to the Regional District of East Kootenay have been ad- vised to stock up on heating fuel for the winter. B.C. Housing Minister Lome Richardson, during a recent visit to Sparwopd, told the residents to get in their supply of wood and coal, despite a recent statement by RDEK officials that the urban renewal scheme planned for their property will be finaliz- ed in 1973. RDEK has been negotiating with about 20 residents of the Natal-Michel area to buy the property and either demolish or relocate buildings to make way for the renewal scheme. But the residents are holding out for a better deal. They argue that the price offered them is not enough to provide them with alternate accommodation. Hard-time dance Saturday COALDALE (HNS) A "hard time" dance will be held in the Coaldale and District Sportsplex Arena at 9 p.m. Saturday. It is sponsored by the Coaldale Kinsmen Club.
