Japan's own market for color tv is greater than the U.S. In fu^t half of 1970, the Japanese bought 2,270,000 color TV sets, while the IJ.S. absorbed only 2,150,000. Canada's Concluded From Front Page one foot deep) of water a year into the Pacific Ocean. Many people remember or have heard about the terrible drought which devastated prairie lands during the late 20s and early 30s. And who can forget those Hollywood westerns about the disputes over water between the cattle men and the "sod busters.." Today the fight for water still goes on in North America, only on a much larger scale and with far-reaching consequences. Various schemes have been devised to take water from Canada's ^eat rivers, like the Mackenzie, Peace, Yukon, Fraser and Columbia, into the rapidly expanding areas of the southwestern United States. Many U.S. politicians, including most of the western state governors, plus various water resource associations, are pressuring for the use of Canadian water. There are several Canadians, too, who advocate the diversion of water to the U.S.A. Dick Booking, producer of this one-hour Tuesday Night documentary travelled extensively in the U.S. and Canada, also visited Mexico to gather interviews and film for the program. He talked to highly-qualified water resource experts and to economists, ecolo-gists, engineers and geologists about the facts concerning North American water resources. Canada's Water - For Sale? was filmed at locations in Oregon, California, Mexico, Arizona, Wyoming, Washington State, Washington D.C., Ottawa, Northern Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, British Columbia and the Northwest Territories. The program also shows examples of large scale development of water and its effects. One example is what happened in Alberta when a huge dam was constructed on the Peace River. Some of the top political figures interviewed for the documentary included the Hon. J. J. Greene, Federal Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources; Governor Jack Williams of Ai-izona; Governor Tom McCall of Oregon; Premier Harry S'trom of Alberta; and Hon. Ray WBliston, Minister of Lands, Forests and Water Resources for British Columbia. NEW WORLD RESTAURANT Henry Yee, Gene Wong, George low. Jack Chow, John Chow, Harold Yee and Phillip Wong.
