Arrangements i are now being inade for the opening reception and-dance, which Is one of the outstanding social events of the year -in Ciaresholm. The School of Agriculture stands on a beautifully situated tract of 320 acres lying on the south edge of the: town. The land is as level as a table and the soil Is excellently adopted to agriculture, being a dark rich loam. Plant lite thrives abundantly furnish- ing a concrele example of what tbe soil of Sunny Southern Alberta will do under favorable conditions. The buildings, a half score in num- ber.-ara frame; but they are fully modern and strongly built The color scheme of light yellow, stucco and red, is pleasing, there being a proper contrast of colors between the houses and barn. All this fits in admirably with the expanse of yellow- stubble, wf undulating plalu and the rolling foot- The chsrch has always bwri o determining factor in the at- fairs of men. All the var- ietlea of grain, grasses, legumes, j fruits and ornamental shrubbery and frees adapted to the western country, are to he found on the farm. Forty acres are devoted entirely, to these experiment plots which nfe one one- hundredth and one-fiftieth of'an acre In size. Dates and depth of soils, rotation of crops, and many other vital subjects, are studied and tabulated, later to be written into government of priceless value, hut far too seldom read. Of particular Interest are the experi- ments on the Claresfiolm farm In al- falfa, sweet clover, rye grass and brome grass. All these varieties of hay have done well, and, of_ course, wholly without artificial watering.
