Documentary profiles hunter The CBC network will present the Canadian television premiere of a much acclaimed full hour documentary profiling fiercely independent American journalist I. F Stone, noted for his incisive, reportage and an uncanny ability to uncover and expose political skeletons secreted in Capitol Hill closets. The film entitled I. F. Stone's Weekly, was produced by young Canadian born film maker Jerry Brack Jr. and won rave reviews in such major publications 'as Time, Newsweek, Playboy, The Washington Post and the New York Times following theatrical showings in the United States. It will be telecast Oct. 27 on the CBC-TV network "This is one of the most vivid demonstrations of the crucial importance of journalists of the calibre of 'Izzy' Knowlton Nash, CBC director of information programs said today. "Political reporters can never allow themselves to be captured by government officials or politicians, for they must maintain an adversary relationship. This documentary dramatically underlines that, and I'm especially pleased it is going to be the first one in the new series of important full hour documentaries in the Sun- day at 10 p.m. spot on the CBC once every four weeks." The stylish documentary, produced over three years, includes mucH specially-shot new film of journalist Stone reminiscing about his lengthy, contentious and colorful career, plus newsreel footage chronicling both high and low points in the saga of 'Izzy' Stone and the headline making political events he uncovered and covered Queen North Store Only 816-13 8t.
