Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - October 6, 1972, Lethbridge, Alberta Bringing TV to the Arctic BRINGING LIVE TV TO THE NORTH-When the Canadian telecommunications satel- lite Anik 1 goes into operation January 1 after two monlhs of testing in orbit, communi- ties in the Arctic will be able to see live television for the first time. Map shows northern communities which will receive television via Anik T and !he locations of the satellite's control centres and television receivers. Anik, to bo launched from Cape Ken- nedy in November on a Thor-Delta three-stage rocket, will also provide improved telephone ond radio communications across Canada. "Sanford and NBC's se- ries which premiered in Jan- uary, 1972, stars Redd Foxx and Desmond Wilson as Fred and Lament Sanford, two junk dealers living in Los Angeles.
