Nashville's multi-mi 11 iun dollar musical entertainment park, lends its name and its sights and sounds to an all- star television special headlining Petula Clark and Tennessee Ernie as hosts, with guest stars Carol Lawrence. Melba Moore and Wayne Newton, for telecast on CBC-TV. Saturday, Oct 6 at p.m. The color special covers a wide spectrum of American music, from jazz to folk, from pop to symphonic, and the entire production was shot within the environs of Opryland, in Nashville, Tennessee. Each song is set in a different location in the park, including a showboat on the Cumberland River and an Opryland railway train. On occasion the stars and the show's musical direc- tor Bill Walker are joined by the Tom Hansen Dancers and the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. Appearing through the show are the Opryland Kids, young performers who regularly entertain in the park. On some days, the park was closed to the public, but on other days the cast nnd crew had a live audience of thousands. They sat in the sun for hours as the stars sang in concert for one segment of the show.. Musical numbers in the show include some 30 songs representative of the American music scene, past and present. For the finale, the entire cast and the Nashville Symphony Orchestra arc joined by an audience of 500, all singing the Tennessee Waltz. Opryland with Carol, Ernie and Petula Opryland, a one-hour TV special dedicated to the American music scene, past and present, will be telecast on CBC-TV, Saturday, Oct. 6, at p.m. Three of the big-name stars headlining the color special are, left to right: Carol Lawrence, Tennessee Ernie Ford, and Petula Clark.
