CAN COLLECT TAXES ON GRAZING LANDS I Calgary. Oct. Lordship Mr. Justice Simmons delivered judgment i this morning in the actions brought j against F. A. Kilbourn and the P. I Burns Co., Ltd., by the rural munici- pality of Marcus to collect 'taxes on grazing lands in the municipality. The cases were regarded as of unusual in- terest., and upon them will hinge wh'etliqr lands held under grazing leases 'from the Dominion government should be taxed or not. In the Kilbourn case, his lordship held that the defendant was an "oc- and'therefore held the de- fendant liable for the taxes, granting judgment for the full amount of the claim with costs. On the other hand, It was found that .the lease had been made out to Burns and Co., Ltd., whereas the tax notices had been directed to P.
