The industrial index was up .70 to 170.58. Golds were un- changed at 173.48, base metals down .10 to 79.83 and western oils off .10 to 231.37. Volume by 11 a.m. was shares, up from at the same time Thursday. Advances outnumbered de- clines 125 to 78, with 175 issues unchanged. Beverage, merchandising, oil refining, trust and loan and steel were among the market's strongest sectors. CP Ltd. was up U to The company's stock was split five-for-one today.
