Brother Stood by Sister A family quarrel was aired in police court this morning when the descend- ants of the original man gathered to tell the cadi how It all came about. It seems that the father so far forgot himself as to chastise his fifteen year old daughter. When the 25-year-old son beard about It he proceeded to chastise the fattier, and handed out a beautiful blue black .optic to show that he had done the trick In a right and proper manner. The father then declared that he would leave It to the beak to chastise the.undiitiful son, so laid a charge of assault against hto offspring. The said offspring came cut second best at tho hands of the court, and a five dollar fine was tack- ed on for the unfllial devotion in the shape of a black eye. Then they all kissed and made'up, the father squar- ing himself by lug the. five spot. Proud of Lethbridge? Show your pride by send- ing your friends Lettibndge Calendars pictures of Gait Gardens. If one 'wishes to gel an i-dea of the financial standing of the farmers, let him go to the collection department of any agricultural implement agency. They .know conditions even better than the bankers for they come more in contact with the farming portion of any community. "Fairly good" was the way Charles McClenaghan sized up the situation this morning when asked for a com- parison of collections' in the Inter- national Harvester Co. business this year with last. "In some parts of the south collec- tions are much better than in others. Along the Crow line east of Leth- bridge they have been very good. The farmers along the south lines are also paying their accounts without trouble. But along the Carmangay and llac- leod-Calgary lines there is a difference. Collections there are -not so good." The reason fcr the difference in various districts is ascribed to the car situation. Along the Carmangay line the farmers are crying out for cars. Elevators are full, and taking it al- together the situation is bad. Whether the C. P. R. can be blamed for this or not is a question, for along other lines there has been very little com- plaint about lack of cars. The only a-nswer seems to be that the company has not been watching its car dis- I tribmion a.s closely as it might, i At Granum there is also a grain hlcckade, probably the worst in the south. Threshing at Granum started late this year, and this may be as- cribed as the cause. At Claresholm there was a shortage for a time hut on one day last week 22 empties wsre left there, and the situation has been relieved. Thus It is seen that the collector? have their troubles when cars are short, but on the 'whole the fanners are paying their bills in a manner very satisfactory. ARMAND FEELS HURT Montreal, Nov.
