The industrial index, consid- ered a major indicator of mar- ket trend, was up .54 to 213.43, golds .24 to 178.19, base metals .04 to 83.34 and western oils .11 to 263.4G. Volume by 11 a.m. was 000 shares compared with 000 traded by the same time Wednesday. Pipeline, bank, trust and loan and industrial mining stocks were among sectors of the mar- ket adding to the increase while construction and material, real estate, beverage and oil refin- ing issues were off slightly. Advances outnumbered de- clines 128 to 96 while 202 issues remained unchanged. Turkey prices at Christmas will be at least 10 cents a pound higher than last year, he says. Broiler chickens would be 10 to 15 cents a'pound high- er, and the sky appeared to be the limit on eggs. Mr. Superstein says the prices of poultry and eggs in Alba-ta now are the highest inj Canada. Monday, egg prices in Ed- monton ranged from 68 to 7] cents a dozen. Last December they were about 50 cents. He blamed the Alberta Poul- try Marketing Board which he says has a monopoly on the poultry business. Replacement cattle were mainly steers weighing more than 750 pounds and selling steady. Stock calves met a good demand at steady to strong prices.
