In the absence of the May- or, Aid. Bowman presided. Others present were Aid. Adams, Hatch, Oliver and Hutton. The reading of the minutes showed that after the Court of Revision work was done at a meeting called for that purpose the council members present had resolved themselves into a spe- cial council meeting. They passed a resolution authorizing the correction of any gross and obvious errors in the assessment and tax roll. They also passed a resolution granting the publicity committee the sum of to be used, if necessary, for the pur- pose of sending a Lethbridge exhibit to Omaha, the understanding being that if the Board of Trade got the money elsewhere, this amount was to be returned to the city. The pur- chase of a strip of land 33 ft. x 134 ft. on -the east side of lot 1 block A, on London Road from Mayor Hender- son for for the purpose of wid- ening Round St., was authorized. Aid. Bowman explained that price was the same what was paid for other land the city needed in that part the city. Lots 25 x 125 ft. in that part of the city were easily worth 5600 now. Police Hall Site The School Board agreed to lease a portion of the Westminster school grounds for a police hall. The site was granted provided the place be fenced off and .the building and fence painted. The consideration of the five-year lease is a year. Henderson Co., of Winnipeg, sent in a report up to Sept. 30, showing tow much money had been spent under the dif- ferent debentures. In connection with the motion to adopt the report Aid. Bowman remarked that there was a chartered accountant in the city now and it might be better to have a resi- dent auditor who would be available at any time. The salary paid the. present per annum and 'expenses. When Aid. Hatch sug- gested leaving the matter over until next year, Aid. Bowman said that he had not intended any action this year but had merely mentioned it thing to think over.
