I he largest single development ever recorded In any Canadian city came when the Directors of the Canadian Pacific Railway decided on Oclober I Oth to locale the general Western car and locomotive shops at Calgary. 1 hese shops, involving the immediate expenditure of millions for erection and will employ several thousand skilled mechanics, which means a new city adjacent to the shops of from to people, with alj the cilyi. equipment required for such n population. 'J V Being five miles from the centre of Calgary, with its people, the new city will receive city, light, water and sewerage, and inter-urban slrcet railway connections; all of which are'assured, and will.be completed early next spring. Banks, Hotels, Business Blocks, Schools, Churches and all public utilities will come with this new separate and distinct city, and the superb trackage facilities offered here will 'bring numerous manufacturing plants, to augment ihe in- dustrial activity .of the new city. 1 he building development to be witnessed there during ihe coming year will surpass anything of kind ever seen in Canada. Awarded to Calgary FROM CALGARY NEWS TELEGRAM, OCT. 24TH: For F. C. Lowes Co. Buy Property Adjacent to C.P.R. Industrial Subdivision For which is the highest price paij for one single piece of property in the his- tory of the west, F. C. -Lowes Co. have purchased from a syndicate of four, of which the head is R. B. Bennett, K.C., M.P., 434 acres adjoining the C. P. R. shops' site and under the name of Cepeear, the property is to be placed on the market on Saturday next. The whole deal was put through in record time, and the property, which C. P. R. offi- cials state positively is to be the only official townsite of the car shop city and is to be served with sewer, light, water and street car service, will within the next two or three years be the site of a city of from to people.
