(Reuter) A custard bowl brought a complex four-country military exercise involving Canada to a premature end Thursday. Able Seaman Chris Mit- chell, aboard the Australian submarine Oxley, was walk- ing down a companionway at lunchtime for a second help- ing of custard when he dropped his empty bowl, tripped over it and banged his elbow on the deck. Medical personnel thought the elbow might be broken, and wanted to get him to hos- pital. The only problem was that the Oxley was the "-quarry" in a submarine- hunting exercise involving the air forces of Canada, New Zealand, Australia and Great Britain. Mitchell was ordered to bed while the submarine captain signalled operational head- quarters. It was decided to cut the exercise short by one day so that the Oxley could return to port. When she docked in Auck- land, Mitchell was taken to hospital. His elbow was found to be badly bruised. LONDON (Reuter) -Beryl Drage, who lost the sensitivity of her lips in a car accident, was awarded Thursday for a lifetime of lost kissing. Judge William Stabb said the damages were com- paratively low because Mrs. Drage was not wearing a safe- ty belt at the time of the crash. Mrs. Drage, 23, was 19 and a bride of six weeks when she was injured. DENVER, Colo.
