Phone 328-6977 THE OSMOND BROTHERS Osmonds gulp salt pills before big family show That reigning super group m today's entertain- ment world, The Osmonds, have their own family special on CTV Saturday. Donny, the heart-throb of the teenage crowd, with brothers Jimmy, Alan, Wayne and Merrill, and sister, Mane, bring it all together both individually and "en toute famille" with the act that always draws sellout crowds of swooning fans wherever they have travelled worldwide in live perfor- mance. Special guest stars in what is bound to be one of the most widely watched television specials going will be Andy Williams the man who gave the Osmonds their initial thrust to stardom and Isaac Hayes, who made Shaft a household word. Much of the show will be taken from the Osmonds' highly acclaimed Las Vegas stage act, in which the Utah-based family per- forms at such a frenetic pace that salt tablets are part of their pre-show diet. The four oldest Osmonds have been performing together for nearly 17 years, reveals brother Wayne, 21, lead singer of the group, commenting on why their act is polished marble smooth. "The only way that Don- ny, 16, Marie, 14 and Jim- my, 11, could've grown up is in a related world of song and he said. The Osmonds special is produced by the ubiquitous team of Chris Beard and Alan Blye. Musical direc- tion is by H. B. Barnum with choreography by Jaime Rogers. Soviet television announces exchange MOSCOW (Reuter) .The Soviet Union has an- nounced an agreement with the American Broad- casting Company (ABC) which aims to broaden ex- changes of television programs with the United States on news, sport and entertainment. Sergei Lapin, chairman of the state committee for television and radio of the Soviet Union, said: "We shall be pleased to co- operate with ABC as well as other U.S. broadcasters on the coverage of Presi- dent Ford's visit to the Soviet Union at the end of this month. We shall be pleased to exchange films and other programs with ABC." President Ford is to meet Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev near Vladivostok on the Soviet far east coast November 23 and 24. ABC officials said they hoped for an expansion of television coverage on all aspects of life and culture in the two countries. Three U.S. networks maintain offices in Moscow but correspondents say they suffer from travel restrictions and the need to obtain official approval of topics before filming. But film, once taken, can be shipped out of the Soviet Union uncensored. Phone 328-1090 GERRY SAGE THE CAMERA AND YOU Last week the employees of Kodak Canada Ltd. went out on strike 'or what I understand is the first in over seventy years Unfor- tunately there was very little notice that the strike was pending and many photographic dealers were caught with their pro- verbial pants down or their Christmas stock sitting in the warehouse. The figure I heard was that over 4.000 orders were unfilled before they left I hate to promote panic buying but if there was a camera on my Christmas list, I would pur- chase it now. It would also be advisable to purchase your Christmas film if the stores are out of Kodak as I suspect many will be. shortly, don't be afraid of buying other types of film At the top of the buying list would by FUJI film which I consider to be every bit as good as Kodak Another choice is Gaf but if you have Fun as an alternative you should de- finitely take FUJI As Kodak Canada is on slnke and as your Koda- chrome with processing in- cluded has to be processed by Kodak I would strongly advise nol sending it until after the strike has ended Have a good week' Courtesy oi KWIK KOLOR ;
