Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - November 14, 1972, Lethbridge, Alberta 12 THE LETHSRIDGE HERALD Tuesday, November 14, 1972 Lemaire leading, but not by much MONTREAL (CD Centre Jacques Lemairc of Montreal Canadians holds a slim onc- pt-inL lead in the National Ilockcv League's individual scoring race today. And just how precarious Lc- mairo's position is at the top can seen in Lhc fact that only five points separate the top 15 players. Lemaire, who recently signed a new two-year contract witfi the Canadians, has points and is the league's top goal-get- ter with l-i. Right winger Rod Gilbert; of New York Rangers and centre Gilbert Perreault of Buffalo Sa- bies are tied for second place in the scoring race with 25 points each, one fewer than Le- maire. Perrcault is the current assist leader with 18. And tills year's goaltending race has its own surprises. Buffalo Sabres, usually weak defensively in previous seasons, received strong goaltending from veteran Roger Crozier last Crozier posted two shut- out? to give him three for the season and a share of the lead with Ken Dryden of Montreal in that department. Meamvhile Jim Harrison had his threa-gaine scoring spree of 11 points broken in a 3-1 Al- berta Oilers' loss Sunday to Cleveland Crusaders, but the 25-year-old centre gathered enough points to move into a first-place tie in the World Hockey Association scoring j race. Harrison has picked up 10! goals and 15 assists in 17 games j and his 25 points has him dead-1 locked in (lie scoring derby wiLh Bobby Shcehan of New York Raiders. Tom Webster of New England who scored a goal in a 4-1 tie with Houston Aeros in the lone WHA game Monday night, is one point off the pace, three in front of Ron Ward of New York and Houston's Gord Labossiere.
