Ann Landers Dear Ann Can a dog get drunk on I need to know. Our golden retriever sleeps in the laundry room which is adjacent to the wine cellar. I noticed that some mornings Happy came staggering into the kitchen very even bumping into things. I thought at first he might be having eye trouble.' We took him to the vet. Happy's eyes are O.K. Last week when Happy didn't show up for breakfast I went down to get him. He was like passed out next to a keg of wine. The spigot had been turned just a little enough so there was a very slow trickle. As I was standing there trying to figure out what to he awakened and behav- ed like a person with a hangover. That very morning I had the keg of wine moved to a high out of his reach Happy hasn't behaved peculiarly since. Can it be that the dog was getting Martin's Perry Researcher Dear M. F. Animals can get just like humans. Alcohol affects their brains the same way. It's a good thing you discovered the source of the problem before Happy began to crave a hair of the dog that bit him. Dear Ann I am a 70-year-old grandfather. For many years I carried on a cor- respondence with a married granddaughter who lives near- ly miles away. In a letter I wrote four months ago I ask- ed her to do me a favor. I enclosed a cheque for gas- oline. The favor was would she and her husband go call on my first cousin whom 1 haven't seen in many This cousin lives less than 45 miles from their home. That same week the cheque came back with a note saying they would do it of these days when we1 are out that I didn't like her attitude and .nave not written to her since. Don't you feel four months is -long enough to wait for a '.small favor like What do you think about B. B. In Iowa Dear B. Your grand- daughter obviously doesn't to be bothered with your first and she let you know it. If my 70-year-old grand- father asked me to go 45 miles to visit his first I think I'd go Just because he asked me to. But maybe your grand- daughter is busier than I am. Dear Ann My hus- band says you are a very smart lady. of am a dumbbell. Maybe I am. I married him. Please settle this. Which is the closer relative a man's wife or his I bought Bennie a wallet for his birthday and he was filling out the identification card. When it came to the line that said of he wrote in his mother's name. I could have cried Bennie and I have five children. We celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary in April. Why would a man con- sider his mother a closer relative than the woman who married him and gave him five I'm so mad I could chew nails. Please answer in the Ann. I have a hunch there are a few other bubbleheads around who could use straightening out. Just A Nodding Acquaintance Dear Just you are his next of kin. Maybe what your husband meant was that his mother is his closest BLOOD relative. But being his closest relative isn't near- ly as important as being his closest friend. And you can tell Bennie I said so. What's What's If yon aren't you need some help. It's available in the bscilet. and Petting What Are the Mail your request to Ann P.O.
