Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - May 28, 1974, Lethbridge, Alberta May 1974 THE LETHBRIDGE HERALD 23 4-H achievement days set for June Southern Alberta 4-H beef clubs will conduct achievement day activities June 1 to June 22. An achievement day allows the young people to exhibit the cattle they have been raising for one year. They are taught record sports- manship and fundamentals of the livestock industry. The achievement day allows them to be judged on what they learned during the year. The Willow Creek clubs will begin the achievement day activities June 1. The including clubs from Claresholm. Wanton and Fort starts at 7 a.m. in the Claresholm Arena. Show judge is Bud Boake of Acme. Kim Hanson of Mountain View will judge showmanship and grooming. About 110 calves will be sold starting at p.m. Also June clubs from Bassano. Gem and Rosemary will hold their achievement day in the Bassano Arena. Andy Brown of Lethbridge is show judge and Gerald Hein of Hussar and George Burns of Gleichen will judge showmanship and -grooming. About 90 head of calves will be sold for members in the three clubs. The Pronghorn and Short Grass clubs will hold achievement day June 7 in the Foremost Curling Rink. The show starts at 10 a.m. with the sale beginning at 2 p.m. Leo Doenz of Warner is show judge with Barry Stuber of Manyberries in charge of judging showmanship and grooming. Fifty-five animals will be sold. The Lethbridge and district achievement day will be held at the Exhibition Grounds July 8. 9 and 10. Four clubs will show animals July 8 beginning at 7 p.m. with another 11 clubs showing July 9 beginning at 9 a.m. Sale time is scheduled for 10 a.m. July 10. Fred Noad 'of Olds is show judge. Ed Noad of High River is show judge. The clubs will sell 63 animals. June 22. six Vulcan-area clubs will hold achievement day.
