Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - May 22, 1973, Lethbridge, Alberta 6 THE UTHBRIDGE HERALD Tuesday, May 22, 1973 Voice of peace begins broadcasts in Mid East TEL AVIV (Reuter) The Voice of Peace, a radio station operated by former Israeli pilot Abie Nathan aboard a small ship, began broadcasting to the Middle East last week. Nathan, who has anchored the vessel 220 miks off the Israeli coast, is broadcasting in Hebrew, Arabic, English and French on a frequency of 1540 kilocycles, in an attempt to pro- mote peace among all Middle Eastern people. Nathan, who twice flow a small private plane on unauth- orized flights from Israel to Egypt in an effort to promote peace, sold a restaurant here about fiv-3 years ago to buy the ship in the United States. He equipped it with radio transmitters with funds raised there. He said he planned to bread- cast popular music throughout, the day to attract an audience, and would intersperse this with news in four languages.
