On Thursday, May 28 at p.m., the topic will be "sense substitution." UnibU recently, science and technology produc- ed little more than braille and the white cane for tfoe blind, and aid to the deaf consisted mainly of learning-by-doing methods. Now, new electronic and. mech- anical devices are being devel- oped to permit true sense sub- stitution, allowing the blind or deai .person to use his other senses io do the job of the missing one. Some of these tech- niques will b3 examined in this film. Currently, she is in London working on her second film, 'There's A Girl In My with Peter Sellers. A native of Washington, D.C., Miss Hawn studied' drama at American University there, pay- ng her tuition by operating a dance school in the nation's cap- tal; Travelling to New York City, she worked as a dancer at the World's Pair Carnival 'avilion. Subsequently, she tour- ed with companies of "Guys and Dolls" and "Kiss Me Kate." GOLDIE HAWN Drama, Science Programs Sold To Europe TV CBC has announced sales o a number drama amd science programs to television networks in Holland and Sweden. Nederlandse Omroep SticJit ing, in Holland, has purchased 13 one-hour programs to be chosen Irom two CBC-TV drama series: Quentin Durgens, MP starring. Gordon PiiKent as a Canadian member of parlia ment, and Corwin, starring John Horton as a general prac titioner. Both series are color productions of the CBC film drama department. CBC has sold six program: from the Machines and Man series, seen in 19GG on The Na ture of Things, to Sveriges Ra dio in Sweden. McQueen Series To Be Repeated McQueen is a tough, sense newspaperman with a conscience. His first aim is prc ducing good stories that sel papers but he hates to see people get pushed around by authority. That's why he edits a column called The Actioneer, dedi cated to helping ordinary peo- ple in then- struggle to cope with the problems of living and working in today's complex so- ciety. McQueen, based on rhc operations of an actual news- paper column, is seen e a c Tuesday at 9 p.m. in color on CBC television, and presently is repeating 17 of the 26 show filmed last year. Series star i. versatile Canadian actor T e Follows. NEW FILM Jofon Wayne's new starrinj film has been named Cbism. Miss Hawn was a regular in the television series, "Good Morning, World." In addition to appearing on "Laugh-In" since that hit ser- ies premiered in January, 1968, she has guest-starred on major television programs including ''The Dean Martin Show" on NBC-TV. Des O'Connor Welcomes Stars Gene Barry, Terry-Thomas, Dyan Cannon and Dusty Springfield will join host Des O'Connor Sunday, May 24, at 6 p.m. on Channel 13 in the second colorcast of "The Des O'Connor "London originated ser- ies of 14 summer shows.
