Lethbridge Herald, The (Newspaper) - May 7, 1974, Lethbridge, Alberta Alborta Probe told of payments EDMONTON The former head of the Alberta Housing Corp. told a judicial inquiry here Monday that he received half the commission paid to a city lawyer for a huge land purchase in southeast Edmonton. Payola claim heard EDMONTON The president of Cosmopolitan Life Assurance Co. said Monday he made payments to the chief examiner of the provincial insurance branch for help with policy development. Albert Jaasma of Vancouver told a judicial inquiry opening its ninth week of hearings into Cosmopolitan's collapse that he made six or seven payments to Bill McKinnon in 1969 or at least once in Mr. McKinnon's car. he said no special favors were involved and he did not consider Mr. McKinnon's work an abuse of the official's government position.
