Following outspoken opposition from the commission retreated and Mr. Anthony said community education programs will be attempted before a centre is placed in that area. He noted that even with the support of local church the treatment centre was opposed. The American Bible Society was founded in 1816. Now there are 56 Bible societies working in over 150 countries of the engaged in some 600 translation publishing Scriptures in over 1500 languages -and and together distributing well over 300 million Scriptures during 1973. The Bible society provides the scriptures for missionaries and individuals. For most people in Latin America and the South Pacific the sole source of scriptures is the Bible society.
