Take for instance-the era of the broad-brimmed felt the camel hair and trousers. And dollars a week was the starting wage for a young cub reporter on a big city daily newspaper. A lot of old reporters are reminiscing about the good old days this week on the big sound stage of the National Film Board where director John Howe is finishing seven weeks of filming William Weintraub's romantic Why Rock the Weintraub himself is producing the film. He joined the Montreal Gazette in 1947. If the Daily the paper in the is anything like the Gazette of those it may not be entirely coincidental. Weintraub's book was pub- lished in 1961 and won plaudits for its satire and insight into the good old days in news- papering in Toronto and New York.
