On index, industrials were down .07 to 183.60, base metals .06 to 96.24 and western oils 1.32 to 207.48. Golds rose 1.28 to 191.17. Among losing issues, Pacific Pete was down % to $29%, Home A % to $26, Alberta Gas Trunk % to $51, International Utilities % to $44y8, Trans-Canada PipeLines % to $32% and Thomson Newspapers % to Noranda dropped Va to $34, Bell Vs to $48%, Inco Vs to $45%, Pan Ocean Va to $16]/4, Houston Oil 12 cents to $2.58 and BP Oil and Gas 10 cents to $6.40. Nuwest was up V* to $7%, Sherritt % to $21, Dynasty 15 cents to $5.15. Dome Mines % to $70%, Campbell Red Lake % to $31, Hudson Bay Mining % to $23%, Asamera % to $19 and Total Pete 10 cents to $6.95. PAPERS RALLY MONTREAL (CP) - Papers rallied today on the Montreal stock market after dropping to a 1971 low at the close of trading Monday, but prices in all other sectors dropped. On index, industrials were down .21 to 183.91, utilities .15 to 155.56, banks .37 to 193.61 and the composite .21 to 180.09. Papers gained .38 to 87.69. Volume by 11 a.m. amounted to 357,400 shares in light trading. Great Britain and Canada Investment was off $1 to $10%, Velcro Industries % to $19, Canada Cement Lafarge % to $40% Pacific Petroleum % to $29%, Banque Canadienne Nationale ]/4 to 313 and TransCanada PipeLines % to 332%. Westbume International Industries gained % to $10 and Du-Pont % to $16%. Up % each were CPR at $66, Consolidated Bathurst at $10, Grissol Foods at $5%, Hudson's Bay Oil at $45 and British American Bank Note at $14. DJA OFF NEW YORK (AP) - The stock market headed downward at a mild rate today in what analysts said was a continuation of a readjustment that began last week.
