Born in Newfoundland, Hie laic Mr. Carter was raised in Hillcrest and completed his education in Calgary, lie taiight school in a number of southern Alberta areas and in 1941 joined the Canadian Army and served overseas, returning n 1946. Since that time he lias )een employed by the Provin- cial Government at the Lcth- bridge Correctional Institute and for Ihe past 12 years had been Assistant Deputy Warden until his retirement in June 1909. Upon his retirement he moved to Burmis, returning lo Lethbridge in October. 1971 He was very active in the Civi Service Credit Union and hi hobbies were reading, drawing painting and wood working Besides his loving wife he is survived by one daughter, Mrs Joan Woitte, Lethbridge; two sons, Jack and Ben F.
