C8064 FONTANA-Passed away in the city on Wednesday, March 14,1973 following a brief illness, Mr. Peter Fontana at the age of 86 years, beloved husband of Mrs. Ida Fontana* of 814 16th St. N. The late Mr. Fontana was born, raised and educated in Poemonte Province, Northern Italy. In 1903 he came to Canmore, Alberta and in 1907 moved to Coleman where he worked in the coal mines. From 1930 to 1935 he operated the Frontenac Hotel at Big Valley, Alberta then returned to Coleman until 1937, at which time lie moved to Champion where he operated the Champion Coal Co. until his retirement in 1960 at which time he moved to Letihbridge where he has con tinued to reside until his passing. Besides his loving wife he is survived by three sons, Benjamin of Coleman, Elmo of Blalrmore, Elvino of Leth-bridge; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one sister in Italy. He was predeceased by one daughter, Mrs. Elsie Jackson, of Champion. The late Mr. Fontana was a member of the Italian Society of Coleman. Prayers will be said on Friday (tonight) at 7:30 p.m. in St. Basil's Church. Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Basil's Catholic Church, with Rev. Father G. Mr. Meaker was born and raised at Aldershot, England. He served in the First World War in Egypt and India. He came to Canada in 1920 and to Lethbrldge 35 years ago. He worked for the Bank of Commerce for 39 years. Besides his loving wife, Pansy, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Roy (Doris) Williams of Vancouver, B.C., Mrs. David (Phyllis) Tysseland of JMh-bridge and Mrs. Walter (Muriel) Kirkman of Lethbridge; two sons, Ken of Montreal, Que. and Don of Cranbrook, B.C., 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Saturday March 17, 1973 at 1:30 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene (16th St. and 9th Ave. S.) with Rev. Robert Deasley officiating.
