Leslie Nielsen takes up this challenge in the fourth Purple Playhouse drama, The Lyons Mail (Sunday, March 18 at 9:00 p.m.), wherein he plays both a rapacious highwayman named Dubosc and a decent family man named Joseph, his exact double. When Dubosc robs the Lyons mail-coach at a wayside inn run by Joseph's father and a man is killed in the struggle, the father believes it is his son who has committed the crime. An investigation is held and despite Joseph's protestations of innocence, his father's evidence is damning and Joseph is sentenced to the guillotine. Appearing with Leslie Nielsen are: Gillie Fen wick as Joseph's father; Diana Barring-ton as Dubosc's ill-used mistress, Marie; Ed McNamara, Joseph Shaw, and Jack Duffy as- Dubosc's villainous associates; and Budd Knapp as the Judge. Blair Brswn plays Joseph's daughter, Julie, and Rex Hagon her fiance.
