I guess the matm-e woman has makeup problems very diffei'-cnt from those who are 25 or 30 years old. Has anyone given any thought to tliis and come up with some practical suggestions? Y. F., Waco, Texas Dear Y. F.: Glenn Roberts, a "face designer" for Elizabeth Arden, has. He says many women make tlie mistake of using the same cosmetics tliey did when they were younger although their coloring has changed. Subtlety, he points out, siiould be the key to clieek color, lipstick and eye makeup. Accordinig to him, mature women tend to neglect the latter, using the fact Uiat they wear eyeglasses as an excuse. He recommends they wear more, rather than less eye makeup, since weai--jng glasses tends to minimize its effect. Mr. Roberts specifically suggests that using eyeshadow in delicate tones of blue or aqua will accent the eyelids and brighten the eyes. Proper and subtle makeup genially, he concludes, can pick up a woman's complexion, add light and vitality to the mature face and highlight the beauty of gray hair. DEAR MISS BROOKFIELD: I'm veiy disturbed by a tendency I've noticed lately among � boy and girl teen-agers, particularly the way they di-ess alike and look alike. For a woman who has been a patient in a psyduatric hospital, coming home to her own kitchen and copmg with producing even a simple meal can be a wonying experience. A once-a-week cooking school for patiente soon to be released from the Hamilton Psycliiatric Hospital has been started by St. Paul's Presbyterian Church hea-e. It isn't a cookuig school in the ordinal-}' sense, with experts demonstrating cooking techniques. Rather, the women of the church take patients shopping for supplies. Then from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.. the patients cook lunch for themselves and tlie volunteers in the church kitclien serve it and eat with tliek guests. Tlie volunteers ai-e there to lend a band if needed, but not to act as teachers. During tlie fii-st season several small kitchen crises were faced and solved wifcliout the stress a patient might have felt meeting them alone. The cooking project was initiated by the church, and it is hoped volunteers will be recruited from tlie Downtown Clim-ches Association. All of them are registered TOth the director of volunteei-s for the hospital. Some of the present volunteers are fdready working with patiaits at the hospital, said Rev. Jolin Congram, assistant minister at St. Paul's and a hospital chaplain. He said the project has several goals in addition to its main aim of helping prepare patients for release from hospital. "By coming doivn here to the church, patients are in the community, but in a sheltered way.
