The British airmen, being in heavy numerical superiority surrounded their opponents. Tho Germans saw there was no chance ot escape. Tho steam coal mines In the Pass, according to Information at the local railway offices, �vriW bo'busy throughout tho summer. The railways in tho west arc storing every ton ot coal thoy can get. During the winter they wore forced to draw largely on their reserves and these must again be built up. It is understood that all the coke being produced in the Pass Is now being shipped to Trail, B.C., whore It Is being used for smelting purposes. Much ot this coke formerly went south over tho C.N.R. to the copper smelters In Montana. Open Vein Mine The Federal Coals, Ltd., the local concern which bought tho Grace mine and is also opening up a new shaft Just �\vest of the brewery, is now under the management ot Mr. Mack. Mr. Hanna, former manager, has severed his connection with the company and is now in charge of the Diamond mine at Diamond City which will be known hereafter as tho Union, though It Is understood the coal will still bo sold under tho name of Diamond coal. Tho Union company's offices are being removed today from Lethbrldge to Diamond City, and development of the mine will be pushed all summer to bring It up to 500 tons next winter. This winter tho rejuvenated property had been brought up to a possible output of 200 tons a day.
