The industrial index was down .27 to 202.J6 and western oils .34 to 223.70. Base mcUls were un- changed at S6.78 while golds rose .83 to 180.65. Volume by 11 a.m. was shares, up from at the same time Thursday. Advances and declines were about even, 123 to with 188 issues unchanged. Beverage, food processing, oil refining, utility and merchandis- ing stocks were among 10 of the industrial index's 17 sub-groups which moved lower. Banking, chemical, industrial mining and real estate issues posted frac- tional gains.
